Tonara’s Calling
La Sardegna, come per tutti gli emigranti, è per me fonte di qualche delusione e di alcune gioie. Tra queste, sicuramente, notizie come quella che ho trovato oggi sul web, vale a dire che il comune di Tonara, un paese famoso tra i sardi soprattutto per il suo delizioso torrone, ha deciso di intitolare una via a Joe Strummer.
La notizia è presente sulla home page del sito del comune del paese, dopo che un gruppo di cittadini ha chiesto di intitolare la strada al mitico cantante dei Clash: a rilanciare per primo la cosa sul web, favorendo il realizzarsi della richiesta, il blog Su Barralliccu, con un articolo praticamente esemplare(a parte che Strummer non si chiamava John ma Joe, fradisi) di cui riporto qui una parte e poi ci metto di seguito il miglior video di Joe solista che mi venga in mente, visto che coi Clash su questo sito forse ho esagerato.
E’ una storia segreta, questa qui, che prelude e che spiega perché adesso in centinaia di villaggi sardi, all’ombra di un nuraghe o dentro una vecchia casa campidanese, centinaia di ragazzi suonino i pezzi dei Clash o quelli dei Doors, scrivano le loro canzoni e incidano le loro autoproduzioni, senza per questo sentirsi meno sardi o figli minori di quest’isola ventosa.
Sardinia, as it happens for all the emigrants, gives me some disappointment and some happiness. Among last ones, there surely are news as the one I found today on the web, about the fact that the municipality of Tonara, a little town famous between the Sardinians mainly for his delicious nougat, decided to entitle a street to Joe Strummer.
The news is on the home page of the town’s municipality, after a group of citizens asked to entitle the street to the legendary Clash singer: the first ones who talked about that matter on the web, helping the desire in being fulfilled, were the guys of the blog Su Barralliccu, with a post which’s practically perfect (besides the fact that Strummer wasn’t John but Joe, fradisi) that I quote here, pasting after it the best solo Joe’s video that I know, cause I Guess maybe I already exaggerated the Clash’s doses on this site.
This is a secret story, which preludes and explains why now in hundreds of Sardinian villages, on the shadow of a nuraghe or inside an old campidanese style house, hundreds of kids play the Clash or Doors songs, write their own songs and self-produce their own records, without feeling less Sardinians inside them, or minor sons of this windy island.
” joe strummer” è il nome d’arte, lui è nato”john graham mellor”. per cui quelli di tonara non hanno tutti i torti.. anche se, sì.. o la chiami joe strummer o lo chiami john graham mellor. ma non gli si può dire che è sbagliato.

però non è importante, non era certo una critica
