Killer Queen
Non ho mai amato tanto i Queen, lo ammetto: sì da adolescente, come un po’ tutti quelli della mia generazione, mi sono ascoltato Innuendo, Who Wants to Live Forever, e i classici Aor Rock di Freddie Mercury e company, ma non sono mai stato un vero appassionato.
Con tutto il rispetto per il personaggio Mercury, che mi è sempre sembrato un’icona interessante, anche se l’Inghilterra è diversa dall’Italia e aveva già avuto personaggi sicuramente più trasgressivi, la loro musica mi sembrava un mischione hard rock piuttosto banale e la loro immagine un po’ troppo kitsch pure per me.
Oggi però, cercavo una canzone per raccontare una mia amica permalosa e dittatoriale, con questi aggettivi intesi nel senso positivo ovviamente, e lei, proprio l’amica dittatrice e permalosa ha suggerito “Killer Queen” . L’ho ascoltata, mi è piaciuta (forse l’avevo sentita ma non ricordavo), ed eccomi qui.
I’ve never loved The Queen so much: well, when I was a teenager I listened to Innuendo, Who Wants to Live Forever and the other Aor Rock classics by Freddie Mercury and company, as all my peers did, but I’ve never been a real fan.
With all the respect due to a character like Mercury, who I always considered as an interesting icon, even if England is different from Italy and they already had characters who’ve surely been more transgressive than him, their music sounded to me as a quite trivial hard rock mix and their public image seemed to be a bit too kitsch even for me.
But today, I was looking for a song to tell you about a friend of mine who’s very sensitive and dictatorial, where you obviously have to take these adjectives in a positive way, and her, just the dictator and sensitive friend, suggested “Killer Queen”. I listened to it, I liked it (maybe I’ve had already listen to it but I didn’t remember) and here I am.
